The contrast between the ruins of Hadrian's Villa and the Renaissance Villa of D'Este was incredible. We chose the tour with the lunch; in retrospect, I would have done it without the lunch and just done lunch on our own. I would have liked more time in Hadrian's Villa and time to explore Tivoli and would seriously consider staying in the area the next time we are in Italy. Would highly recommend this tour.
The good & the not so good!

Our tour guide, Alicia, was very organized & shared her knowledge of the sites with great enthusiasm!
The only negative of the tour was the lunch. The food was not great, served in a disorganized fashion. There was no toilet paper in the one bathroom- not great for a tour group. You can find better, for sure!
Would not take this tour again not recommend it

The organisation of the tour by the operator was really bad. There were delays on their end, in part due to the bus getting lost, which were then taken from the time we had to visit the villas. The tour guide was not on the bus and would leave the group to travel alone at every stage. The visit was rushed and did not take into account the needs of more elderly people on the group. The restaurant’s service and quality (for the in-tour lunch) was really bad, and was poorly timed, making people rush to finish their delayed meals so that we could catch up with the second part of the tour. Finally, on the way back, once again alone, the bus driver was unaware of where the final stop should be. All in all the experience was not great and I would not take the tour again nor recommend it to anyone.

Marcia was an excellent host - informative, interesting, friendly and humorous. Hadrian's Villa site was a revelation; we had no idea it was so extensive and so beautifully set among olive groves and other beautiful trees. The afternoon visit to Villa D'Este was a wonderful contrast to the morning. Coach was good and everything was on time, worked well and was good value.
Beautiful Gardens but Missing Fountains and Water

The tour operators and our guides were knowledgeable and professional as they were also residents of the area. The gardens were beautiful to some extent, although when booking this tour, the sight of the fountains, clean and clear water were advertised, although when we arrived not one fountain was working nor did it look like they have been on for years. The ponds and pools were green…the landscaping was manicured but the grounds were also being working on with scaffolding in view. We enjoyed being out of Rome for the day and in Tivoli. I would have really like to have seen the full beauty of the tour. I would not be opposed to visiting another time of year. Thank you.
