Planning Your Perfect Paris Visit: A Travel Guide

Paris, the City of Light, beckons travelers with its timeless charm and iconic attractions. Whether you're a first-time visitor or returning for another taste of Parisian magic, this guide will help you make the most of your trip.

Must-See Attractions

1. Eiffel Tower: No visit to Paris is complete without seeing this iron lady. Book tickets in advance to avoid long queues.

2. Louvre Museum: Home to the Mona Lisa and countless other masterpieces. Plan your visit to this art lover's paradise.

3. Notre-Dame Cathedral: While under restoration, its Gothic beauty still impresses from the outside.

4. Arc de Triomphe: Climb to the top for breathtaking city views.

5. Champs-Élysées: Stroll down this famous avenue for shopping and people-watching.

Hidden Gems

• Sainte-Chapelle: A lesser-known Gothic chapel with stunning stained glass windows.

• Musée de l'Orangerie: Monet's water lilies in an intimate setting.

• Canal Saint-Martin: Join locals for a picnic along this trendy waterway.

Neighborhood Exploration

• Marais: Wander through charming streets, boutiques, and historic mansions.

• Montmartre: Soak in the artistic atmosphere and visit Sacré-Cœur Basilica.

• Latin Quarter: Experience student life and visit the Pantheon.

Culinary Delights

Indulge in French cuisine at local bistros or splurge on a Michelin-starred restaurant. Don't miss:

• Croissants from a neighborhood bakery
• Cheese tasting at a fromagerie
• Wine and charcuterie at a cozy wine bar
• Classic steak-frites at a traditional brasserie

Getting Around

Paris boasts an excellent public transportation system. Check the RATP website for metro and bus information. Consider purchasing a Navigo pass for unlimited travel.

Walking is often the best way to explore, but rent a Vélib' bike for a different perspective.

When to Visit

Spring (April-June) and fall (September-November) offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds. Summer brings festivals but also tourists, while winter sparkles with holiday decorations.

Accommodation Tips

Stay in central arrondissements (1st-8th) for easy access to major sights. For a more local experience, try neighborhoods like the Marais (4th) or Saint-Germain-des-Prés (6th).

Money-Saving Tips

• Visit museums on the first Sunday of the month for free admission
• Use the Paris Museum Pass for multiple attractions
• Enjoy picnics in parks instead of dining out every meal
• Take advantage of free walking tours

Safety and Etiquette

Paris is generally safe, but be aware of pickpockets in tourist areas. Learn basic French phrases – locals appreciate the effort.

Refused Refund

We were at the Louvre at the scheduled time and it was not open yet. They told us it would not open until 10 am or later. The tour was 9-11 and we had made strict reservations for after. We decided to not participate in the tour because it would only give us 1 hour maximum to have the tour. The tour guide told us he would make note of that to the company and they would give us a refund. They never issues us a refund. So unprofessional and rude. Basically just took our money for nothing
A plus.

My husband and I went to Paris in October (2024). We had a small group of 6 people and our tour guide was Matteo. we booked our tour for 9AM and would highly suggest you do the same before the lines get super long (even during off season). The tour company was on time and with our pre purchased tickets, we only had to wait in line for security. Please know that you WILL wait in line to go through security but it is much shorter than the line you would have to wait in if you don’t book a tour. Matteo was amazing. So knowledgeable and truly a fantastic person that we could tell was passionate about art. Highly recommend the tour!!
Great experience!
